Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge landed on the 30 "must visit" places for 2025 by travel guide publisher Lonely Planet.
It's not like we've kept the region a secret, but we can't say we're surprised.
The big picture: Located just 40 minutes east of Portland, the area surrounding Oregon's favorite stratovolcano is home to a myriad of rivers, trails, and hills perfect for adventure-filled activities like hiking, cycling, snowshoeing and skiing.
Plus: For those in search of leisure, there's always the dozens of local farms, wineries, breweries and tap rooms to check out.
Zoom in: Lonely Planet directs travelers to Hiyu Wine Farm for winetasting, Multnomah Falls for sightseeing and windsurfing in Hood River, "the windsurfing capital of the world."
The bottom line: It was one of only three U.S.-based destinations featured on the list.
So if you've been wanting to hit the slopes around Timberline, camp near Trillium Lake or taste the region's best eats, you better book those reservations now.
