The Portland Criterium Cycle Racereturns this weekend — it's like if the Tour de France took place within downtown's North Park Blocks.
Zoom in: Dozens of cyclists, which include some of the top racers in the Pacific Northwest, ride shoulder-to-shoulder, turn sharp corners and reach speeds of up to 35 mph.
The race takes place on a six-corner loop circling the North Park Blocks between NW Flanders and Couch streets.
It's quick, too. Some races are only two laps, while others are up to 70 minutes.
Dig in: There's more to do than just spectate. No Q' No Taqueria will be on-site dishing out street-style tacos, burritos and tostadas, while New Belgium Brewing Fat Tire will host a pop-up beer garden.
If you go: It's free to watch! The first race kicks off Saturday at noon and ends after the last podium presentation at 8pm.
