Best Day Ever: Zookeeper Phil Fensterer

• We asked him how his best day ever in Portland would look.

☕ Coffee: He loves Nossa Familia beans on a pour-over at home, on his back porch, just before sunrise.

• "My yard is backyard certified by the Bird Alliance of Oregon and I sit and enjoy the birds: nuthatches, red-breasted sap suckers and Bewick's wrens," he told Axios.

🐕‍🦺 Morning activity: A drive to Thousand Acres in the Sandy River Delta with his 40-pound husky mix Cedar, to meet up with friends and walk for a few hours.

• "I bring my binoculars and if I get lucky I'll see a common yellowthroat or a green heron."

🍦 Snack: Sugarpine Drive-In in Troutdale for a waffle cone with vanilla ice cream, plus a pup cup for the dog.

🍺 In the afternoon, he'll bike to Harold's Bar with a bunch of friends to watch a Mariners game.

• "It's just my friend Harold's garage, but we call it Harold's Bar," he says.

🍕 Evening fun: A movie at St. Johns Twin Cinemas and, after, a slice of thin crust sitting outside the Signal Station Pizza, an old gas station.

🍸 Drinks: North45 in NW Portland, where he loves the mussels and pommes frites.

🌜Bedtime: He'll be 56 in October, so he's in bed early because he has mouths to feed.

• The tigers eat horse meat, sometimes beef.
• "The other day I gave them each a trout, they seemed to like that."
