Ritz-Carlton food hall Flock could open this summer

The latest: We've been promised Flock's opening several times in the last year — first in November 2023, then this spring, all dates that passed with radio silence.

• There hasn't been any official word on what's caused the delay, though there have been several telling signs in the last few months.

Now, Axios Portland has learned the food gallery could come "later this summer," according to Matthew Demma, a spokesperson for Flock.

• The folks behind Pan Roast, the seafood-focused food cart from Rollin' Fresh's Ryan Moy and new addition to Flock, told Axios it could be as soon as next month.

What's inside: The nine vendors signed on so far, per Demma, are:

• Birrieria La Plaza, known for its spicy, messy tacos
• Pan Roast & Oyster Bar, offering seafood bisques and fish and chips
• Prime Tap House, craft beers and Asian-inspired twists on bar fare

• Queen Mama's, Saudi Arabian cuisine and delicacies
• HK Bistro, dim sum and other Chinese staples
• ZabPinto Thai Kitchen, classics like curries, larb and pad kee mao
• & Coffee
• PDX Test Kitchen
• Wine Lounge

The intrigue: Kim Jong Grillin' and Sun Rice pulled out of the project since they were each announced in April 2023, and have since opened different locations, one in Happy Valley and the other inside the Moxy.

• Suzaku and Artly Coffee were originally included, too, but are not on the new list of vendors provided to Axios.
