That's how many candidates are running for the city council this fall.

Zoom in: According to Maja Viklands Harris, author of Rose City Reform, all these people are vying for the 12 council seats under Portland's new government structure set to begin in 2025.

  • Three people will be elected to each district.
  • The most coveted appears to be District 2, encompassing all of North Portland and parts of Northeast, where 21 candidates have filed an intent to run.

What we're watching: A crowded field means it will be hard to stand out without endorsements and adequate fundraising.
