Kamala Harris rally and concert prompts road closures in Philadelphia

Driving the news: The city will put in place driving restrictions in three phases starting Friday for the area around the museum and Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

• Restrictions will be lifted at varying times on Tuesday.

Zoom in: Harris is hosting her campaign event at Eakins Oval from 5-9pm on Monday.

• The campaign has yet to release additional details, including who will perform.

🚨 You've been warned: City officials are warning motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

🚧 Road closures: The Eakins Oval area between Kelly Drive and Spring Garden Street is now closed and will reopen 8pm on Tuesday.

Starting Saturday at 8am, Kelly Drive inbound lanes will close from 25th Street to the parkway.

• Spring Garden Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Kelly Drive will also close, as well as all parkway lanes between 22nd and 24th streets.
• These closures will run through 8pm Tuesday.

On Monday at 5am, crews will practically shut down the parkway and surrounding streets, including the I-676 westbound off-ramp at 22nd Street. Other closures include:

• The parkway between 18th and 25th streets.
• 19th Street between Arch and Vine streets.
• Spring Garden Street tunnel and bridge.
• MLK Jr. Drive between the Falls Bridge and Eakins Oval.

Plus: Expect intermittent closures of Pennsylvania Avenue between the 2200-2400 blocks on Monday.

Meanwhile, the I-676 eastbound off-ramp at 23rd Street will remain open.

🅿️ Be smart: Parking restrictions are in place along several streets in the area.

• Those include Spring Garden Street between 22nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, and Race Street between 19th-20th streets.
