Titans ship local star Kevin Byard to Philly

• His local ties earned him the nickname "the mayor."

• Byard has been named to the All-Pro team twice and made the Pro Bowl twice. He's also a four-time team captain.
• Byard's 27 interceptions are the fourth-most in team history.

What he's saying: In a social media post Monday night, Byard called being a Titan "a dream come true."

Details: The Titans receive a fifth-round draft choice and a sixth-round draft choice as well as safety Terrell Edmunds in return. Edmunds is playing on an expiring contract.

Of note: It's the second time the Eagles have acquired a top Titans player in a trade. Receiver AJ Brown was traded to Philadelphia on draft day in 2022.

Zoom out: Considering the team's slow start to the season and the fact that new general manager Ran Carthon is in the early stages of building the roster, it's reasonable to ponder if other veterans could soon follow Byard out the door.
