Addison DART station to get $240 million mixed-use project

State of play: DART's Silver Line will soon connect DFW Airport and Plano, with a stop at Addison Station.

• The 14-acre Addison Junction project will feature an office building, 140-room boutique hotel, 30,000 square feet of entertainment space, and a 12,000-square-foot aviation-inspired event venue named "The Hangar."
• Plazas, restaurants and a Texas-themed beer garden will connect the development to Addison Circle Park and the Cotton Belt Trail Corridor for hiking and biking.

The latest: The project was approved by the Addison City Council this week and will be overseen by Dallas-based Quadrant Investment Properties.

Fun fact: Addison only spans 4.4 square miles and has its own private airport and around 17,000 residents.

• In 2023, the town had the highest share of households that rent among all of the North Texas cities.

Flashback: Addison officials started assembling land around their rail corridor in the 1980s, expecting light rail service to one day reach the town, per a news release.

• Changes in the market and development partnerships shifted developers' focus from housing to commercial and entertainment options, per the town's news release.

What they're saying: "Addison Circle put us on the map more than 25 years ago as a leader in creating connected, walkable communities," Addison Mayor Bruce Arfsten said in a statement, referring to the walkable, urban town center. "Addison Junction takes that vision to the next level."

What's next: Addison Station is set to open this fall.
