The State Fair of Texas will diversify its Cotton Bowl football offerings this year by adding women's soccer.
Driving the news: Dallas Trinity FC will host an international team Oct. 18 at the Cotton Bowl, the last Saturday of the State Fair.
The big pitch: The fair and football are best buds, but soccer is the world's most watched sport.
"This collaboration allows us to celebrate the global nature of soccer while honoring the rich history of the Cotton Bowl and the cultural significance of the State Fair of Texas," Dallas Trinity FC founder Trip Neil said in a statement.
Between the lines: Fairgoers will likely comprise a much larger crowd for Trinity FC, which already plays home games at the Cotton Bowl.
The 24-day fair's last Saturday tends to be one of its busiest days. Between 2019 and 2024, the last Saturday averaged 150,600 visitors.
What we're watching: The team says they will announce their international opponent and ticketing information soon.
