Next stop on Hailey Van Lith's redemption tour: The Sweet 16

Flashback: Van Lith started out at Louisville, where she made two Final Fours and one Elite Eight as one of the best players in the country. Her transfer to LSU last season ended in another disappointing Elite Eight loss and a lot of criticism on social media.

• It got to the point where Van Lith felt like, "I didn't even want to live," she said to reporters following the Horned Frog's recent second round win over Louisville.

The latest: Van Lith got back to her old ways this season in Fort Worth, where she's been arguably the best point guard in college basketball by averaging a career-high 5.5 assists and almost 18 points per game.

• Along with fellow senior transfers Sedona Prince and Madison Conner, Van Lith helped take a TCU program that had never won more than 25 games in a season to 33 wins and the cusp of the Final Four.

What's next: No. 2 seed TCU takes on No. 3 seed Notre Dame Saturday at 1pm in Birmingham, with TV coverage on ABC.

• The Horned Frogs are in the region with No. 1 Texas, which ESPN commentator Andraya Carter tells Axios, "is maybe a region where we could see some upsets, like a TCU or a Notre Dame make a run not as the No. 1 seed."
• A strong performance against Notre Dame's talented backcourt could help Van Lith get taken in the first round of April's WNBA Draft.
