March Madness is coming to North Texas this weekend.
TCU's Schollmaier Arena will host first- and second-round games for the first time in the school's history.
Why it matters: TCU is the only local team in March Madness this year. None of the universities in North Texas made the men's tournament.
The intrigue: TCU women's basketball placed last in the Big 12 conference in 2022-23.
They won their first Big 12 championship last week and head to the NCAA women's tournament as the No. 2 seed.
State of play: TCU hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday. Louisville and Nebraska also play Friday at Schollmaier Arena.
The winners of both games play Sunday there.
Players to watch: The Star-Telegram describes TCU's Sedona Prince as "the trailblazer," Hailey Van Lith as "the sniper," and Madison Conner as "the warrior."
Van Lith won bronze in women's 3x3 basketball in the 2024 Olympics.
