Dallas Stars start training camp, preseason games

• Just three months ago, they fell short of making it to the Stanley Cup Final. Time to try again.

The latest: Training camp opened Thursday and continues through Oct. 6 at Comerica Center in Frisco.

• The Stars face the St. Louis Blues in a preseason game at 6pm Saturday at the American Airlines Center. Tickets start at $14.

State of play: The Stars' best scorer, left wing Jason Robertson, will miss camp while he recovers from a cyst removal on his foot in July.

• Robertson rounds out the promising young returning Stars — Miro Heiskanen, Roope Hintz, Wyatt Johnston, and goalie Jake Oettinger. 🦦

Team moves: The Stars signed a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension with defenseman Esa Lindell. The team also signed defenseman Thomas Harley for a two-year, $8 million deal.

• The team has hired former Star Jordie Benn — current Star Jamie Benn's older brother — as a player development assistant.

What's next: Fans can attend training camp Friday and Saturday. New schedules are announced every week.

• Camp is free and typically doesn't require reservations, except for Friday, when fans must get a ticket reserved first.
