With Election Day just hours away, Illinois' candidates for governor are taking different approaches to their final day on the campaign trail.
The latest: Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker and his running mate, Christian Mitchell, plan to crisscross the state Monday, starting in Metro East before heading to Springfield, Bloomington, Rock Island and Rockford.
- Republican challenger Darren Bailey, meanwhile, will spend the day in Chicago with his running mate, Aaron Del Mar, on a media tour.
Why it matters: The contrasting schedules offer a glimpse into how the candidates are choosing to spend their final hours making their cases to Illinois voters.
Zoom in: For Bailey, it's been an uphill battle to find footing in the mostly Democratic city, leaning on his running mate Del Mar for the final message to city voters.
What they're saying: "Chicago is home," Del Mar tells Axios. "After traveling all over Illinois, it felt right to finish close to where my story started."
Zoom in: In the race for U.S. Senate, Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton will join Pritzker on his four-city tour Monday, while Republican opponent Don Tracy will stop in Wheaton and Naperville before finishing in Will County.
- Closer to home, congressional candidate Daniel Biss, a Democrat running in the 9th District, will start his day in Lincoln Square before heading to Lake County and wrapping up in Evanston.
- In the 2nd District, Democrat Donna Miller will spend the afternoon in Hyde Park.
Meanwhile: In Chicago, the candidates for School Board president are making their final pitches to voters.
- Hilario Dominguez will campaign in Humboldt Park, Pilsen and other West Side neighborhoods.
- Jessica Biggs will start in Bronzeville before heading to the North Side and wrapping up downtown.
- Victor Henderson will be in Mount Greenwood, Beverly and Morgan Park.
The bottom line: After months of rallies, debates and campaign stops, Illinois candidates have just one day left to make their final pitches to voters.
