The Chicago Bears are reportedly making a major move to bolster their defense as they push toward the NFL playoffs.

The latest: The Bears are acquiring All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a massive package that includes at least two first-round draft picks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Bears are sending two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder to Tennessee in exchange for Simmons.

The Bears have yet to officially announce the deal.

Why it matters: Simmons, a four-time Pro Bowler and one of the NFL's premier defensive tackles, would provide an immediate boost to a Bears defensive line that has struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks.

By the numbers: Simmons recorded 11 sacks last season and earned first-team All-Pro honors. He has four sacks through seven games this year. He is 29 years old.

The Bears' interior defensive linemen ranked near the bottom of the NFL in generating pressure.

The big picture: Chicago enters Week 8 at 5-2 with growing playoff expectations under head coach Ben Johnson.

What's next: The Bears face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
