Love 'em or hate 'em, pumpkin spice lattes have flooded the city once again, and we're fighting about the frighteningly good ones in this week's Food Fight.
Monica's pick: The pumpkin pie latte ($7.45) at Ancient Grounds in Lakeview, where they specialize in cereal-flavored drinks and happily complied with my request to top my drink with some Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
- Is it super sweet? Yes, but I see this as more of a dessert than a drink, and it feels like a thrilling and nostalgic seasonal treat.
Carrie's pick: If you're going with a seasonal specialty, pick a spot that celebrates fall year-round! October Cafe in Norwood Park carries the autumnal spirit into its drinks, decor, and, of course, its name. The co-owners fell in love and married in October. ❤️
- This pumpkin spice latte ($6.25) is made with fresh pumpkin puree and doesn't have that syrupy, artificial sweetness that many PSLs have. It features a strong cinnamon finish.
