Bite Club: Colombian-Chinese chop suey

The bite: This airy modern eatery features few Asian-Latin mash-ups, but the one that caught my eye was patacon chicken chop suey ($14.75).

• It features tender, saucy chicken, peppers and celery topped with shoestring potatoes, cabbage and scallions, all atop a crispy fried slab of green plantain, recalling an open-faced jibarito sandwich.

The verdict: I'm not usually a fan of chop suey, but I sure like it this way and can't wait to return for more hybrid dishes like chicken tinga bao, chipotle Mongolian beef and orange chicken with garlic aoli.
