Obama Presidential Center opening brings heightened security to South Side

Zoom in: The Secret Service says it is treating the opening ceremony similarly to other major national events, like political conventions or elections.

• Security has been elevated, sending visitors through airport-like metal detectors and screenings before entering the campus. Vehicles, too.
• They will also dispatch drones above with a temporary flight restriction in place during the ceremony, so no airplanes or drones will be allowed in the area, according to the Secret Service's James Morley.

The bottom line: "We're not aware of any threats to the opening of the Obama Presidential Center," Morley told CBS 2 News. "If anything does come our way that is of concern, we will adjust our plan accordingly."
