Anyone religiously on Instagram (🙋) can tell you the food trend taking over feeds is frozen yogurt — less TCBY at the mall, and more fancy fro-yo with inventive toppings.
Yes, but: We're not quite where New York is on the trend, but there are definitely some reliable places.
This week's fight: Who serves Chicago's best frozen yogurt?

🍒 Carrie's pick: If we've met, you know I love frozen yogurt, ice cream, soft serve, basically if it's cold and creamy, I want it! KALA's Fro-Go ($7.25) in Lincoln Park is so rich and smooth, and the vanilla doesn't have that sourness some Greek yogurts have.
- I go with cherry port jam and salted pistachios for my two included toppings, but Nutella, cinnamon sugar, candied walnuts, and sea salt and olive oil round out the choices.
- Pssst...KALA's is opening a second location in Wicker Park, they told me last week.

🥬 Justin's pick: Ēma in River North is the bomb. No doubt, hands down, the winner.
- Of the two options at this Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, the pistachio and candied orange ($11.95) is just a tiny bit better than the California olive oil and sea salt ($9.95). They're huge, too.
The best part? On Fridays from 11am to 3pm, you can get smaller sizes to go for just $1. Yep, $1. You can't even get items at the dollar store for $1 anymore! BRAVO, Ēma!

🫐 Monica's pick: Yoberri Gourmet in Lincoln Park. This 18-year-old locally owned shop weathered the rise, fall and return of frozen yogurt mania with its freshly made, small-batch product, full of active cultures and locally sourced ingredients.
- I love their seasonal blends like blueberry lavender and lemon basil, but my year-round order remains Yoberri's refreshing wild berry froyo topped with granola and raspberries ($7.60).
