The CTA is launching new art and music installations this spring along train and bus routes.
Driving the news: Yesterday, the CTA announced three new projects as part of its Elevating Culture Near Transit initiative, which aim to transform everyday transit spaces into community destinations.
The project is a collaboration with Elevated Chicago and the MacArthur Foundation.
What to expect: Mandala South Asian Performing Arts plans free jazz performances at stations between Howard and 95th Street.
Endeleo Institute will collect stories from neighborhoods along 95th to create murals and other visual content, culminating in a public event.
McKinley Park Development Council will install visual representations of the neighborhood around the 35th/Archer Orange Line station.
Context: The projects are part of Elevated Chicago's mission to represent the cultural identity of communities at transit stations and stops.
