Even several years after the pandemic lockdown, people are searching for places where they can create community. A new space in West Town aims to provide that.
The big picture: Business partners Daryn Schwartz and Laura Lusson created The Space Together as a co-working, education and events space.
- A limited number of founding memberships are available now for $99 a month; day passes cost $35.

Driving the news: The Space Together is hosting an open house from 2-5pm Saturday at 1727 W. Grand Ave., above The Center for Order and Experimentation.
- Visitors can tour the space and sip refreshments while participating in mini tarot sessions, acupuncture and art stations.
Flashback: The friends met at The Space Between, the River North yoga studio Schwartz founded, when Lusson moved from the suburbs to the city in 2018.
Reality check: The yogis formed a deep friendship and after hearing from students throughout the years that they craved a space to connect after yoga class, Lusson and Schwartz explored this "clubhouse" concept.
What they're saying: "We talk about meditation and breath work and all of these things, and eating well and getting 10,000 steps, but we forget to talk about being together in meaningful connection," Schwartz tells Axios during a tour.
- "I think it's harder than ever to meet people in real life, especially when you're a certain age and up, you're not in these environments where you're just meeting people all the time."
Plus, social media creates a false sense of connection, Schwartz notes, and real-life interactions feel more fleeting as our phones absorb our attention.
What to expect: Each day at The Space Together will begin at 8am with a daily ritual, like meditation, breath work or sound healing, before the space turns to coworking at 9:30am.
- Members can pay a rental fee to use the space for events as well.
