Fulton Market boomed over the last decade — and it's about to get even more crowded.
The latest: Several restaurants and shops have announced they are setting up shop on the near West Side.
Why it matters: The flurry of new business activity shows the neighborhood's growth isn't cooling, even after high-profile closures.
Flashback: Fulton Market surged in popularity when Google moved its headquarters to Fulton and Morgan in 2015.
- Since then, restaurants, offices and retail flocked to the area, while new towering luxury residential buildings have brought thousands of new residents to live, work and play.
Yes, but: In early 2026, one of the anchor developments in the area, the Time Out Market, abruptly closed its doors, following other exits like Gus's World Famous Chicken Chicken and Kuma's Corner.
The big picture: Even after notable closures, Fulton Market's momentum is overpowering the setbacks more than most Chicago neighborhoods could.
What they're saying: "This neighborhood is amazing," Francis Brennan, chef and co-founder of Do-Rite Donuts, tells Axios. "There's a buzz to the neighborhood and we've been thrilled to be a part of it."
Here are a few new spots, either open or coming soon, in Fulton Market.
Pizza Lobo (165 N. Morgan St. — Open)

The popular Logan Square and Andersonville pizzeria is transforming a dormant space into a large, sleek bar and restaurant with its signature outdoor patio in the back.
- Two floors plus a patio anchor the space.
Do-Rite Donuts (181 N. Morgan St. — Open)

The donut and chicken restaurant has been around for almost a decade in Fulton Market, right next to the new Green Line CTA stop at Morgan.
- It closed for renovations last — and reopened this week with a shiny new storefront that provides a more streamlined takeout setup.
- Don't worry, the menu hasn't changed.

Labriola Italian Specialties (852 W. Fulton Market — this month)
The local restaurant Labriola has a cult following in Oak Brook and has held ground on Michigan Avenue for the past decade. Now, they are bringing an Italian restaurant to Fulton, replacing Kuma's, which left in 2024.
- It's slated to open April 22.
Urban Belly (916 W. Fulton Market — next month)
Celebrity chef Bill Kim brings his flagship restaurant back to the area after leaving Randolph Street for Wicker Park in 2018. Kim will operate right on the corner of Morgan and Fulton, taking over the former Taverna 1821 space.
- Kim's ramen shop was an anchor in Time Out Market, too.
Fun fact: That space was once home to La Sirena Clandestina, chef John Manion's famed restaurant that was one of the original establishments in the neighborhood. It closed in 2019.
Prasino (200 N. Aberdeen St. — summer 2026)
The LaGrange favorite is coming to Aberdeen Street, sharing space with Tilly's Bagels.
- Prasino calls itself a neighborhood gem after 15 years in the western suburbs, specializing in locally-sourced ingredients for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Mendocino Farms (847 W. Fulton Market — TBD)
The LA-based sandwich and salad shop was a huge SoCal hit in the 2010s, and it has expanded to other states since, including Illinois.
- It already has a shop in River North and in the Willis Tower.
- The Fulton Market outpost will take over the old Gus's Chicken, which closed in 2024.
Honorable mention: All Too Well will bring its gourmet sandwiches to the old Pockets storefront on Madison Street, while Froth Coffee shop just opened Bar None, one of the city's first THC cocktail lounges.
What we're watching: While things are looking up, Google's new Thompson Center headquarters is slated to open in the Loop next year.
- That would leave a major hole in Fulton Market's office core — just as the neighborhood doubles down on restaurants and retail.
