I'm not a mom, but I'm an advocate for mental health, movement and, of course, fun!
The big picture: Moms Feelin' Themselves, a traveling mental health dance party that started in Denver in 2023, is making its way to Chicago on Saturday.
State of play: What started as a love for dance and fitness by friends has grown into a nationwide movement for moms to reconnect with themselves and each other.
MFT founder Elizabeth Wellington believes while it's important for kids to have playdates and have fun, adults also learn through play, joy and spontaneity.
"The idea that putting yourself first is selfish or it's unfair for your children is the opposite. Because when you feel connected to yourself, your whole family benefits, your kids feel it," Wellington tells Axios.
Zoom in: Darlene Jackson, aka Lady D, a Chicago DJ, mother and advocate for women's wellness, will be driving the music while guests hit the dance floor.

The vibe: "Pure joy ... you just met a hundred of your best new mom friends," Wellington says of the party.
If you go: The event is open to all, not just mothers. And while there is no dress code, guest should wear what makes them feel alive!
Doors open at 6pm Saturday at Subterranean in Wicker Park.
