Women's History Month marks a time to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women locally and globally.
The big picture: Throughout March, events across Chicago will bring women together to celebrate, connect and uplift each other. We've rounded up a few ways to celebrate around the city.
- Experience an evening of music from Chicago Sinfonietta and performances by Deeply Rooted Dance Theater led by an all-women cast.
- 7pm Friday at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville and 7pm Saturday at Harris Theater in the Loop.
- Tickets start at $30.
- Shop and support local women-owned businesses, from fashion, beauty, home goods and more.
- Noon-6pm, every Saturday this month at Navy Pier.
- Free
- Sail along Lake Michigan as you vibe to R&B music and mingle with friends.
- Sunday 1:45-6pm, leaving from Burnham Harbor S. Dock at Museum Campus.
- Tickets start at $50.
Stitching Stories: International Women's Day Special
- Connect with the community through an afternoon of storytelling, art and an open mic session.
- 2-4pm Sunday at Heritage Museum of Asian Art in Bridgeport.
- Tickets start at $15.
"The Women Who Built Chicago" Bus Tour
- Hop on this bus with local historian Shermann "Dilla" Thomas to learn about the women who made history in Chicago and beyond.
- Times vary. March 21-22 at Chicago Women's Park & Garden in the South Loop.
- Tickets start at $2.50 for now.
Women's History Month Wine Tasting
- Sample a variety of wines throughout the evening and hear from wine and spirits expert Regine Rousseau.
- 6-8pm March 30 at Bronzeville Winery.
- Tickets start at $55.
- Celebrate women with a dance party open to all! The best retro-dressed guest will receive a prize. You can also expect food and drag performances.
- 6-9pm March 31 at Moe's Cantina in River North.
- Tickets start at $45.
