Perusing Zillow is a hobby for many, especially ogling expensive homes with way more bathrooms than any person could ever clean.
The big picture: The online real estate marketplace has compiled the most popular listings for each state based on which homes had the most views from January to October 2025.
The property: Illinois' winner is the Thompson House, located across from Washington Square Park at 915 N. Dearborn Street. The home has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms and has more than 13,000 square feet.
- The listing price: $18.5 million
Flashback: The Thompson House is symbolic of Chicago's rise from the (literal) ashes of the Chicago Fire, with the city's elite settling in the Gold Coast. It was designed by Cobb and Frost in 1888, the same architects who did the home's neighbor, the Newberry Library.
Context: Current owner Jimmy Dremonas, founder of the Pete's Fresh Market grocery chain, purchased the property in 2009 and updated it, according to Gold Coast Realty.
Interesting features: A 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom carriage house above the garage, a refurbished original mosaic floor and hand-carved marble fireplaces.
