The big picture: Chicago's running community has inspired me to test my own endurance, and I've been training since March to run the 10k.
The annual event also offers a 5k and 15k run or a 2-mile walk.
Context: I geared up for the run with a foot analysis and bought new sneakers at Fleet Feet in the South Loop and have been practicing on the lakefront trail every day before work.
By the numbers: Organizers expect 40,000 people to participate in this year's run at Grant Park.
Zoom out: Not running? Stop by a free expo for lots of chocolate samples and photo-ops. I'll be there to pick up my bib so say "Hey!"
Noon-7pm Friday and 10am-5pm Saturday at the Hyatt Regency downtown.
💠My thought bubble: It's my first race so I'm taking all the advice I can get. Most people have told me to enjoy and pace myself. Fingers crossed that Chicago brings a little sunshine with its chill!
