While shoppers await the arrival of Uniqlo and Mango on Michigan Avenue, the Harry Potter shop and Pop Mart consistently draw lines down the block, making the Mag Mile far less deserted than some media reports will have you think.
The big picture: New shops have also been popping up in neighborhood corridors like Southport in Lakeview, Lincoln Park and Fulton Market, suggesting retailers want to meet shoppers where they live, not just work.
Recent openings
🤠 Filson: Fans of Yellowstone (or just cowboys) can rip off the look with the brand's first Chicago store at 167 N. Sangamon St.

👖 Gap Factory: The outlet opened last month at 17 N. State St. to fulfill all your cotton and denim (discounted) dreams.
👟 Salomon: Shoppers are clearly not tired of workout wear, outdoor gear and athleisure. The French brand opened its second U.S. store in August at 1630 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown.

🐎 Tecovas: In case you didn't get enough Western wear at Filson, this Texas-based brand opened its first permanent Illinois store Friday in Oakbrook Center.

👚 LoveShack Fancy: The refreshed Plaza Del Lago in Wilmette is getting more tenants, including this clothing, home and gift boutique that also features locally sourced products.
What's next: Christmas? Macy's thinks so. The department store launched its 100 Days to Christmas countdown last week, so get ready to see those lights go up and snag a spot at the Walnut Room.
🤣 Possible collab? Lost Girls Vintage, located in Logan Square and West Town, trolled clothing and homewares chain Anthropologie with a bit about vintage rocks. (And some of us fell for it, but only for a minute!)
