Escape into your imagination this weekend as the Joffrey Ballet debuts "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" at the Lyric Opera House.
The big picture: A mystical variety show that will appeal to new or regular ballet goers, the show is based on the original novel by Lewis Carroll, but Joffrey has made a few adaptations.
What to expect: Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon told Axios that while the art of ballet can be considered "old-fashioned," this production will incorporate more contemporary elements, like tap.
What they're saying: "This production matters. It's a dynamic, exciting journey into a world of color, life, joy, music and magic, but it's [also] a great way to experience a classic art form for the first time," Wheeldon said.
If you go: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" opens Thursday and runs through June 22 at the Lyric Opera.
