This weekend, I will be checking out Electric Shuffle, a new bar, restaurant and game venue.
The big picture: Electric Shuffle, a UK-based company founded in 2015, opens Friday in River North (488 N. LaSalle Dr.) for anyone in search of adding some friendly competition to their nights and weekends.
The entertainment venue puts a modern spin on the classic game of shuffleboard.
How it works: The retro-themed bar serves pizza, truffle fries and other snacks to munch on while playing a 90-minute game.
Tables can also be linked together for a tournament-style event or for larger parties.
In addition to the food and games, guests should expect DJs playing music from the '70s to today.
Reality check: Not familiar with the rules of shuffleboard or never played before?
Electric Shuffle's Gene Ball shared a tech-savvy tutorial that guides players through the game, tracks scores on a live leaderboard and offers a fun selfie feature.
