Shaw's Crab House is showing us how family and tasty seafood can thrive in the heart of downtown.
The big picture: The Chicago institution is celebrating 40 years with a week of festivities and dining specials beginning Monday.
Zoom in: After years of strolling past this beloved restaurant and oyster bar, I finally stopped by for a weekend lunch and it was bustling.
Shaw's is known for its oyster bar which opened in 1984, and the decor definitely sets the nautical vibes with boats and vintage photographs that tell the story of 40 years in business.
I tried their shrimp fettuccine which was quite flavorful and I also shucked some oysters.

What they're saying: "Chicago is a very authentic city and Shaw's is the same way," the restaurant's Bill Nevruz tells Axios. "We don't chase trends like Chicago doesn't. It's the city of big shoulders, classic and hard-working and that's what Shaw's is."
What to expect: For the anniversary, Shaw's is offering a curated throwback menu with sauteed frog legs, a variety of oysters, blue crab-stuffed shrimp and more.
