Fitness trends come and go, but this one will take you to new depths.
The big picture: Deep End Fitness is a mix of yoga and crossfit-like training but underwater.
What to expect: The 90-minute class begins with a few stretches and each group is determined based on swimming skill level. Exercises include dumbbells and weighted bags underwater and as well holding your breath for a period of time.
What they're saying: "We do it on Sundays, and so it's a great way to go into the week. You've just accomplished something really hard, so you have this confidence boost that drives you into Monday," head instructor Matt Michalak told Axios.
If you go: Classes are every Sunday at 12:45pm at the UIC Natatorium. Be sure to bring your towel, goggles and, of course, swimsuit!
