These days it's not just Chinese restaurants open on Christmas. A growing number of dine-in and takeout options are available in Chicago and the burbs.
Dig in: Here are some of the places open for holiday meals.
🥡 Takeout
Aba: Pick up a holiday short rib kit ($395) or a holiday beef tenderloin kit ($595). Each includes sides and a whole crème brûlée pie. Kits serve up to eight guests and come with cooking and reheating instructions.

Beatrix – River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market: Dinner for two ($119.95) with filet medallions, Parmesan smashed potatoes, brown butter spaghetti squash and vegan hummingbird cake.

Plus: Loop Beatrix locations have dinners for 6-8 guests with turkey with gravy or ham with maple dijon glaze and choice of three sides. ($205)

L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge: Christmas dinner for two to-go includes oven-roasted turkey breast and gravy, housemade stuffing and apple strudel. ($82.95)

Sushi-san — River North: Togarashi-spiced fried chicken, mashed potatoes with yakitori gravy and Okinawa sugar pie for dessert. Items are sold individually.
Duck Duck Goat: Chef Stephanie Izard's Peking duck dinner kit with all the fixings feeds four and comes with cooking instructions. ($250)

🍽️ Dine-in (Christmas Eve)
Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!: Enjoy an extended happy hour from 3-6pm with dishes like seared scallops, paella and pitchers of sangria to share.
Ema – River North, Glenview: Specials include grilled shrimp kebab and souvlaki, truffled spoon pudding and pumpkin hummus.
Il Porcellino and RPM Italian: Feast of the Seven Fishes with 'nduja baked clams, blue crab spaghetti and roasted black bass.
Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab: Seasonal specials include the beef Wellington and John Dory and classics like the jumbo king crab legs.
Mon Ami Gabi: Enjoy French classics like beef bourguignon and Mon Ami Gabi's bûche de Noël dessert.
Pizzeria Portofino: There's an all-weather heated patio and their signature holiday cocktail, the Peppermintini.

Cody's Public House: Specials include $5 merry mimosas, $8 merry mules, $8 Tito's bloody mary, $12 gingerbread old fashioned and $20 Miller High Life Lite buckets.

Easy Bar: All night drink specials like $4 Malort shots, $6 hard seltzers and a $9 beer-and-shot combo.
Remedy Bar: Opening late Christmas Day, at 10pm, with specials like Fannie May shot with Creme de Menthe and maplewood chocolate ($6), The Broke Back with lemon, apple cider, triple sec and Remy 1738 ($14) and Founders Breakfast Stout ($8).

Miru: Enjoy Japanese-style fried chicken, which is inspired by Japan's Christmas Eve tradition of enjoying fried chicken.
