The new November ratings dropped this week and after a lousy campaign season, some talk radio stations saw a much-needed bump on Election Day.
The big picture: WGN-AM and WBEZ-FM saw considerable gains in November, which includedelection night coverage.
Yes, but: Both news talk stations still reside outside the top 10. The more conservative talk station WLS-AM didn't see any increases.
State of play: The Drive (WDRV-FM) regained the top spot in town after a strong showing this month. It was No. 1 during the summer before ceding ground to the all-news station WBBM-AM in September and October.
Other winners: WLIT-FM went all holiday music on Nov. 1, which gave it the biggest jump of all stations since October.
That wasn't enough for it to claim the top spot, but history says the station will recapture its first-place glory in December.
Losers: WXRT-FM dropped the most but is still firmly in the top 10.
Caveat: These ratings don't break down precisely when people are tuning in or specific listener demographics.
Disclosure: Justin Kaufmann has worked for a number of these stations.
