More people are opting out of getting up early, making a big mess, triggering the smoke alarm, and fighting with their family all for the sake of a home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving.
Driving the news: More than half of Americans surveyed in 2022 said they planned to eat out for Thanksgiving, and that went up to more than 60% for Gen Z respondents.
- The top three reasons for takeout or eating out are supporting local businesses, taking away the stress, and spending more time with family.
Dig in: Chicago offers a cornucopia of takeout options, prepared meals and dine-in reservations.
Takeout options:
Indus: This Highland Park Indian spot is offering pasture-raised tandoori chicken, biryani, rice pudding tart with pomegranate pearls, and mango pie. Order by Monday: [email protected].
- Orders for four to six people cost $170-$200.
Heritage: The West Town caviar bar and restaurant has two packages, both of which come with wine and dessert. They also have a la carte items like a ham or turkey plus sides. Order by 5pm Monday.
- Orders for two to four people cost $225-$500.

Rosebud: The classic Italian spot with locations on Rush Street and in Deerfield, Lemont and Rosemont will pack up apps, pastas, entrees, sides and desserts like baked clams, ziti, meatballs and tiramisu. Order by Tuesday.
- Prices vary and can serve between five and 14 people.
- Rosebud also has a prix fixe dine-in menu with soup, salad, entree and dessert for $52.
Pequod's: DwellSocial will deliver the famous pan pizza to Glen Ellyn on Tuesday and Libertyville on Wednesday.

Q-BBQ: The suburban BBQ joint in Oak Park, La Grange and Naperville has a family pack with a turkey and classic fixings.
- This complete dinner feeds eight to 10 and is $240 or $260.

Tanta: Thanksgiving Pollo to Go is a whole chicken marinated in Peruvian spices, plus sides and pumpkin tres leches. Order until noon Monday.
- Serves up to four people for $130.
Robert's Pizza and Dough Co.: This Streeterville spot returns with its Thanksgiving pizza with roast turkey breast, 'za stuffing with pork sausage, fresh cranberry sauce, sweet potato puree, fresh mozzarella, asiago cheese, and mushroom gravy. Plus apple pie. Order by Monday.
- Serves eight to 12 and is $35-$65.
Soul and Smoke: You can donate a Thanksgiving meal to someone in the community while you order your own at one of the restaurant's Avondale, Evanston and West Loop locations.
Dine-in
Coco Pazzo has a three-course prix fixe for $70 per person. Hours are 5pm-9pm on Thanksgiving. Reservations suggested.
Ann Sather will start serving full turkey day meals at 11am for $32.95 per person at all three locations.
Tavern on Rush also starts serving its classic Thanksgiving meals at 11am. Adults ($89) get a glass of prosecco, and kids 12 and under cost $25. Reservations required.

Torali in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel is offering Thanksgiving brunch and dinner featuring a la carte dishes including confit turkey hash ($27), Iberico pork belly ($28), short rib osso buco ($40), and pumpkin spice buttermilk pancakes ($28). Reservations.
Gene & Georgetti is serving Tuscan Thanksgiving from 11am-8:30pm for $105 or $60 for kids 9 and under (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity). Reservations here.
Sayulita Taco Mariscos and Tequila Bar in Rolling Meadows is celebrating Friendsgiving with cheese enchiladas en mole, taquitos, mango cheesecake and more. Starts at 5pm and is $28-$40. Reservations here.
