Axios readers chose the North Side intersection of Armitage, Ashland and Elston Avenues as the most annoying in Chicago.
Why it matters: Chicago has no shortage of traffic jams, but we all know some intersections are worse than others.
State of play: For this month's Axios Chicago tournament, the worst of the worst duked it out to be crowned the most annoying intersection in Chicago.
Methodology: As with every tournament, it was unscientific. It's a collection of anecdotal experiences, reader suggestions and common knowledge.
- Yes, the city collects data on traffic delays, but time is just one of the factors we weighed while trying to create a geographically diverse list.
- We also tried to account for snarls that affect multiple intersections like the one connecting Fullerton/Ashland and Clybourn and Armitage/Ashland and Elston. Ugh!
The intrigue: We'll send the results to the city. Maybe officials will listen and move some of the most annoying ones up the list for fixes.
