Northwestern football is going to be a unique experience this year — and it'll cost you to see it in person.
The big picture: Wildcat home tickets are seeing an average resale price of $275, making the Evanston-based Big Ten school the second-priciest ticket in all of college football, according to Vivid Seats..
Texas A&M is the only school higher ($353).
Methodology: Vivid Seats looked at the secondary market for ticket sales and compared prices today versus last year.
The intrigue: Supply and demand explains why Northwestern resale tickets rose 227% year over year. Last year, Northwestern played at Ryan Field, which had 47,000 seats.
This year, the team will play at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium while a new permanent home is being built to replace Ryan Field. It's a practice-like field in the middle of campus and seats only 15,000.
The bottom line: Squeezing ticket holders into a much smaller stadium will be a unique experience, for which alumni and fans are apparently willing to fork over big bucks.
What's next: The stadium will get its first action tomorrow as Northwestern hosts Miami of Ohio University.
