This week has been chock-full of Olympic trials as American athletes put their best foot forward to make the trip to Paris next month.

Yes, but: Before he stuck it to the Germans at the Berlin Games in 1936, he competed in the National Amateur Athletic Union Junior Track and Field Championships in 1933 right here in Chicago.

The intrigue: Even though Owens co-held the world record in the 100-yard dash, he didn't fare as well that day. Chicagoan Jimmy Johnson beat him in the 100-meter finals.
