Chilly Cubs fans attending this week's games will be greeted with some hot new Wrigley Field food options.
Why it matters: Tasty ballpark chow can enhance the game — especially when the weather's lousy and your team is losing.
The big picture: The Cubs have long tried to catch up with the White Sox when it comes to food quality, and these new offerings help narrow that gap.
Dig in: New Wrigley Field food offerings include:
- Loaded nachos topped with spiced pulled chicken called chicken tinga, slow-simmered beef barbacoa and a plant-based chorizo.
- Chicken quesadillas with ranch chipotle sauce.
- Ancho steak sandwich with chimichurri sauce.
Plus: They still have the ginormous helmet full of "slugger" nachos that Wrigley executive chef Hugo Lopez tells Axios "is a sharable item, but if you want to help yourself, you're welcome to."
Returning classics: Small Cheval cheeseburgers, Garrett Mix popcorn and Hot Doug's specialty sausages ("not available anywhere else in Chicago," Lopez says — noting they are served only in the bleachers).
