Chicago political analyst and activist Rebecca Sive has worked with everyone from former Mayor Harold Washington to former Presidents Bill Clinton & Barack Obama.

  • In her new book, called "Make Herstory Your Story: Your Guided Journal to Justice Everyday for Every Woman," Sive skips politics to focus on women in activism.

Why it matters: There has been a renewed effort to recruit women for elected positions in Illinois. Sive wants to bring that same effort to activism.

  • "I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but I am a writer and community organizer. So a new tool for activism seemed like something I could contribute," Sive tells Axios.

Details: Sive's last book was about electing women to local offices. This one is less about winning elections and more about getting your voice heard.

  • "To me, justice means that every woman, regardless of where she lives, what she does, or what kind of family she lives in, has the opportunity to realize her dreams − and help other women achieve theirs."
