Zillow has put together the hottest ZIP codes in the Chicago area.

• The real estate marketplace analyzed viewership data on its listings to find the median number of views per ZIP code.

Why it matters: The list of the ZIP codes that have seen the biggest increase in listing views year over year are not in the city, showing a pattern of Chicagoans settling in suburbs like Plainfield, Bolingbrook and Northwest Indiana.

By the numbers: Here are the top five ZIP codes in the Chicago area with the highest number of median views, according to Zillow.

6383: Northwest Indiana takes the top three spots, but the first is the crown jewel of The Region, Valparaiso. The college town is known for Popcorn Fest and its ties to Orville Redenbacher.

• Median price: $311,075

46322: Another popular Northwest Indiana spot is just across the border in Highland. It's right next to Munster and just south of Hammond.

• Median price: $228,591

46321: Munster, Indiana is constantly ranked in top places to live lists. The suburb has a population of just around 23,000 people.

• Median price: $311,075

60440: Bolingbrook, southwest of the city and accessible by the Stevenson Expressway, is the first Illinois suburb to make the list.

• Median price: $247,813

60586: Plainfield continues to grow as an alternative to the popular Dupage County suburbs just north, like Naperville and Downers Grove.
