December is for indulging. This month, our team revisited some of the city's best new restaurants. We also discovered some new faves.
Venetian-style asparagus from Albertine
"This is what I imagine the most-refined veggie-forward funnel cake tasting like. You won't be able to stop eating it." — Emma Way, associate director, editorial

Bang bang shrimp from Spice
"The bang bang shrimp is like the guilty pleasure of takeout, but elevated." — Alexandria Sands, reporter

Tacos from Bakersfield
"I noticed this place was packed on a late Tuesday night so I figured the crowd was either there for tasty tacos or the drinks. After my meal, I realized it was for both." — Alexis Clinton, reporter

"The Big Boss" roll from New Zealand Cafe
"I tried three rolls — all delicious — but "The Big Boss" roll, pictured in the very front, takes first place." — McKenzie Rankin, lifestyle reporter

Pig and fig pizza from Flight
"I didn't expect to find one of my favorite pizzas in Charlotte at a wine bar and restaurant, but when you combine prosciutto, fig jam and balsamic drizzle with anything goat cheese and a few other fun ingredients, you have a winner." — Ashley Mahoney, reporter

The Khaliat Alnahl from Qahwah House
"Qahwah House is a new Yemeni coffee shop in Plaza Midwood with pastries, coffee and tea galore. During a preview of the space, I tried a few pastries, but my favorite was the Khaliat Alnahl (AKA honeycomb bread). The cheese inside the bread is like butter and the honey drizzle gives it a sweet taste." — Laura Barrero, editor

Gingerbread ice cream from Golden Cow Creamery
"The chewy bites of spiced gingerbread throughout the heaping ice cream scoop were a delicious afternoon treat. One of the better scoops I've had in a while." — Katie Peralta Soloff, editor
