Flight, a European-inspired restaurant and bar, opening soon in Elizabeth

Between the lines: Flight is located in the same 7th Street plaza as popular restaurants like The Crunkleton, Menya and Puerta, many of which are on our list of best restaurants.

Flight co-owners Vicki and Dwight Bailey live nearby and have witnessed the neighborhood's growth in recent years. They tell Axios they're excited to be a part of the changes with the help of their daughter and Flight manager Kayte Morton.

• Dwight is a physician specializing in pediatric critical care at Levine Children's Hospital; Vicki is a nurse practitioner. They're not quitting their day jobs but will pop in periodically as Kayte manages Flight.

"We started this as an opportunity to interact with people in a positive way, compared to what we experience with work every day," Dwight said.

The vibe: The 2,700-square-foot space has indoor seating for about 60 people and 25 people on the outdoor patio.

• The inspiration for Flight came from the family's travels.
• "We want to help people on their journey to learn by exposing them to new wines," Vicki said.

Dig in: Its menu has European-inspired shareable plates, salads and six types of artisanal pizza baked in a custom Italian oven.

• All of their desserts — from their oven-baked cookie to the tiramisu — are made in-house.
• The wine list features 150 international and domestic wines, 30 of which are available by the glass. Other drink options include cocktails, beer and mocktails.

• Open Tuesday-Thursday 4-10pm, Fridays 2-11pm, Saturdays noon-11pm and Sundays noon-10pm. Closed on Mondays.
