Off Leash halts plans to open dog park in Decatur, closes Alpharetta location

• Decaturish and Appen Media were first to report the company's decision.
• The company's website and Instagram page appear to have been taken down.
• No specific reason was provided other than the company saying it was a "business decision."

What they're saying: "We would like to express gratitude to our dedicated staff, loyal members, and everyone who played a role in the creation of Off Leash," the company said in its statement.

• Off Leash also said it's "optimistic about the exciting opportunity to reimagine the use" of its Alpharetta space at 142 South Main St.

Catch up quick: Off Leash's Alpharetta park opened during the summer and had an uncovered outdoor area, a covered part equipped with chairs, fans and heaters and a restaurant with a dog-friendly patio.

• The Decatur location was set to open next year in downtown with a smaller footprint, but the same amenities, co-owner Wendy Newman previously told Axios.

Meanwhile, Skiptown, which calls itself an "upscale off-leash dog social club" recently opened its third location in Kirkwood and is allowing free entry for a limited time before its grand opening in early 2025.
