Former President Trump nabbed Georgia's 16 electoral votes in the 2024 presidential election, according to the Associated Press.
Why it matters: Trump's strength in the state was an early sign of his ultimate victory in the race, besting Vice President Harris in key Sun Belt swing areas.
- He handily scored the state back from Democrats after it flipped in 2020 to President Biden after a hand recount with razor-thin margins.
Plus: Fulton County voters decided whether starring players in Trump's 2020 election interference case deserve another term in office.
Yes, and: Georgia voters also voted on ballot measures affecting homestead exemptions, personal property exemptions and the state's tax court.
Worth noting: Neither of Georgia's U.S. Senate seats were up for grabs this year.
- In races on the ballot, if no candidate wins more than 50% of the vote, then the top two finishers for that race will head to runoffs on Dec. 3.
