USF launches free AI course

The University of South Florida unveiled plans to launch a redesigned micro-course on generative AI this year.

Why it matters: The micro-course is part of a yearslong push to explore and promote the technology's applications. And unlike its graduate certificate and AI courses, this one is free and open to the public.

Zoom in: USF launched its first micro-course on generative AI in 2023 and drew over 4,500 participants, per a press release.

The updated course keeps the former's free, self-paced style but adds a new roster of speakers, streamlined assignments and updated content to reflect recent breakthroughs.
Participants will complete three modules that teach them how to craft effective prompts, build an AI toolkit for writing and research, and create a plan to integrate AI into their work.

Registration is open until March 24.
