We knew you were well-traveled — but we didn't expect so many of you to know almost instantly that we were on the High Steel Bridge in Mason County when we asked where we were last week.
This historic truss arch bridge, built in 1929 by the Simpson Logging Company, towers about 365 feet above the South Fork Skokomish River — making it the tallest railroad bridge ever built in the U.S.
Now a roadway, it offers jaw-dropping views straight into the canyon below.
It's off Highway 101, southwest of Hood Canal and Lake Cushman.
