Dates and labneh do a body good. Photo: Melissa Santos/Axios
Local coffee and bagel chain Toasted opened its fourth location last month in Pioneer Square — and I've quickly become hooked on the date and labneh bagel sandwich.
Zoom in: The open-faced sandwich is served with a generous layer of medjool date spread, followed by a hefty dollop of labneh, a strained yogurt that provides a tangy counterpoint to the dates' sweetness.
It's topped with a sprinkling of walnuts for crunch.
State of play: The chain's new Pioneer Square location at First Avenue and Yesler Way is takeout-only and doesn't have seating.
Yes, but: You can find other Toasted locations in South Lake Union, Bellevue and the U-District (although the U-District location is temporarily closed for repairs).
What's next: Toasted also plans to open a fifth location in Capitol Hill sometime this year.
