Seattle is one of America's best-paying metro areas, a recent U.S. News & World Report analysis finds.
That's based on how many local jobs offer top-five pay nationally for those roles.
By the numbers: The Seattle metro has 69 jobs that rank in the top five nationally for pay — more than any metro besides San Jose (149) and San Francisco (137).
Case in point: In some of Seattle's highest-ranked roles, IT managers earn about $243,000 annually; software developers make about $181,000; pilots make about $390,000; and local human resources managers earn more than $200,000.
Yes, but: The Seattle metro area's high salaries come with high costs of living, driven partly by housing prices and inflation.
The region's unemployment rate has been rising faster than the national average, even as some jobs offer outsized pay.
