What to know about new WSU football coach Kirby Moore

Washington State University's next head football coach will be Kirby Moore, who has spent the past three years as Missouri's offensive coordinator.

The big picture: Moore becomes WSU's fifth head football coach in six years, replacing Jimmy Rogers, who left after one season.

Here are a few facts to know about Moore, who WSU says has agreed to a five-year deal.

He's a local. Moore, 35, played football at Prosser High School, which is located about 170 miles west of Pullman.

Football's a family thing. Moore's father, Tom, coached his high school football team. His brother, Kellen, is the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Moore played for Boise State. He was a wide receiver there from 2009-2013.

He spent six years at Fresno State. He started as the Bulldogs' wide receivers coach, and later became offensive coordinator, ESPN reports.

What they're saying: "Becoming a first-time head coach at a special place like Washington State is a dream come true for my family and I," Moore said in a news release.

"Coach Moore is the real deal, and exactly who we needed to propel us to the top of the new Pac-12," WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell said in a written statement.

What's next: Moore will address the media at a press conference Tuesday.
