If you're searching for unique, locally made gifts this holiday season, look no further than one of Seattle's many artisan markets.
Why it matters: Hitting up a craft market with dozens of vendors makes it easy to support area artists and small businesses.
Here are a few markets to check out this month. All are free unless otherwise noted.
Wish You Were Here Holiday Market
Dec. 4-Dec. 7
Grab a cup of coffee while you shop for trees, wreaths and vintage goods. Live music is planned Saturday.
- Located in the Railspur alley in Pioneer Square (115 S. Jackson Street).
- 4-9pm Thursday, 11-6pm Saturday and 11-5pm Sunday.
Black Artists Market
Dec. 5-Dec. 6
This holiday craft market highlights products from Black artisans and Black-owned businesses, offering handmade gifts, festive decorations and treats.
- The market will be held at two different times and locations: first at Midtown Square in the Central District from 4-8:30pm on Friday, Dec. 5.
- It will then move to the Seattle Opera Center on Mercer Street on Dec. 6, running from 11am-5pm.
Joyeux Bazaar
Dec. 6
This European-style Christmas market is put on by the Alliance Française de Seattle, and will feature live performances along with family activities like face painting.
- 11am-5pm at Washington Hall (153 14th Ave. South).
Winter Solstice Holiday Market
Dec. 6
This 21+ event features alcoholic drink options and a Bad Santa photo booth, in addition to dozens of vendors. Food trucks will also be on site.
- Tickets start at $10 (you'll pay more if you're buying drink tokens).
- 3-10pm at Magnuson Park Hangar 30.
West Seattle Holiday Festival
Dec. 6
A highlight of this festival is the night market, which will be accompanied by live music and a tree lighting.
- 4-8pm along Southwest Alaska Street (between 42nd and California Ave Southwest).
Magnolia Holiday Market
Dec. 7
Shop for your foodie friends at this winter edition of the neighborhood farmers market.
- 10am-2pm, 33rd Ave West & West McGraw Street.
Occidental Square Holiday Bazaar
Dec. 13
Browse locally made stocking stuffers and handmade gift options from a range of vendors. Coincides with a free ice skating rink at Occidental Square.
- Noon-6pm, 117 S. Washington St.
Shop Small South Park
Dec. 13-14
Shop locally made accessories, artwork, clothing, beauty items and more.
- 11am-4pm at South Park Hall (1253 S. Cloverdale St.).
Native Art Market
Dec. 20-21
Shop the work of Indigenous artisans, ranging from apparel to jewelry, woodcrafts, ceremonial drums and prints.
- 10am-5pm at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center inside Discovery Park (5011 Bernie Whitebear Way).
Seattle Christmas Market
Through Dec. 24
The German-style Christmas market at Seattle Center features a 50-foot tree, a carousel, and vendors selling food, gifts and holiday goodies. (Glühwein, anyone?)
- Adult tickets start at $7, but can run up to $22 at peak times or when there are special events. Kids 6 and under are free.
Outside of Seattle
Check out the Holiday Art Market at the Kirkland Arts Center through Dec. 21; the Winter Night Market at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art on Dec. 5-6; and the Holiday Market in downtown Edmonds on Saturdays through Dec. 20 (don't forget to ride the free Holiday Trolley).
