Nearly 30 local authors will gather at the Phinney Center on Nov. 22 for the 16th annual Holiday Bookfest, a neighborhood tradition that turns the historic schoolhouse into a book lover's bazaar.
The event raises money for children's literacy group Page Ahead and Books to Prisoners while giving local authors a rare chance to step out from behind their desks and meet readers face-to-face.
The lineup includes Seattle favorites Sonora Jha, Lynda Mapes, Thor Hanson, Matt Kracht and Peter Ames Carlin, whose new book "Tonight in Jungleland" lands alongside the Bruce Springsteen biopic "Deliver Me From Nowhere."
If you go: Bring your kids for children's book readings, your appetite for cookbook demos and a few used books to donate.
